Are you preparing your verification body for CBAM accreditation, or would you like to work as an auditor for a verification body? Our training is designed for verification teams and individual professionals, including freelance auditors. We cover the CBAM-specific foundations of emissions determination and verification, building on existing audit experience.
Our experience includes successfully completed and ongoing training programmes for verification bodies and auditors from countries including China, India, Korea, Türkiye and Serbia. We tailor the content to participants’ existing knowledge and technical priorities.

Accreditation of a CBAM verification body requires demonstrable technical competence. Our training helps you develop your own CBAM-specific knowledge or build the expertise of your verification personnel.
We focus on the relationship between production processes, emissions calculations, documentation and verification. We explain the CBAM requirements at each stage and how they fit together.
Understand the methodology and apply it to verification questions.
Emissions methodology: Production processes and system boundaries, emission sources, precursors, and the determination and attribution of emissions.
Verification requirements: Requirements for the verification of emissions reports, the supporting evidence and the handling of findings.
Practical application: Selected production processes and case examples, including iron, steel and aluminium.
We agree the priorities, technical depth and format with you, based on participants' existing knowledge and intended scope of activities. The content reflects the current CBAM regulatory framework.
Experience in training and practical implementation.
We combine training for verification personnel with our work for importers and producers. This helps us explain the practical connections between data collection, calculation, reporting and subsequent verification.
Our contribution is CBAM-specific technical training. Accreditation decisions are made by the relevant national accreditation body.

The 8–10 hours of preparation cover each full preparation period. All live sessions run from 09:00 to 13:00 German time (CET / UTC+1).
The programme concludes with an individual open-book examination. The date and time commitment will be confirmed.
How you learn during the programme
You learn the CBAM-specific methodology and apply it to a case study that runs throughout the programme. In the live sessions, we discuss your approaches, open questions and professional judgements.

Session 1 · 21 Jan 2027 · 4 live hoursThe operator’s system
You take the operator’s role.
You follow the information chain from the installation to the emissions report: system boundaries, production processes, monitoring, precursors and the attribution of emissions. The Workbook supports it with practical tasks on the installation and its data.
Session 2 · 4 Feb 2027 · 4 live hoursThe verifier’s method
You take the verifier’s role.
You learn the method from the verifier’s side: the engagement you may accept, the information you request, the risks you analyse, the verification plan and the sampling, the findings you raise, the opinion statement you reach and the verification report you sign. The Workbook supports it with practical tasks, and we work them through together in the session.
Session 3 · 18 Feb 2027 · 4 live hoursThe complete case
One verification engagement, worked as a team.
The group works a single verification engagement from the first information request to the verification opinion. Each part receives what the part before it produced and hands on what the next one needs. You finish the programme having worked one engagement in full.
Good to know
Who is the training for?
For verification body personnel, employed auditors and freelance auditors with practical experience in greenhouse gas verification. No prior CBAM knowledge is required.
How much time should I allow?
The training includes twelve hours of live sessions. Allow an additional approx. 8–10 hours of preparation before each session: using a Learning Guide and Workbook for Sessions 1 and 2, and the Workbook for Session 3. Your completed tasks form the basis for our discussions.
How does the training conclude?
The programme concludes with an individual open-book examination. You receive a certificate of attendance and a separate statement of your examination result.
